Fr. Alfredo Gonçalves is the Vicar General of the Congregation of the Missionaries of Saint Charles (Scalabrinians), in Rome, and Director General of the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN).
Fr. Alfredo worked in pastoral activities in the periphery of different cities in Brazil, including the slums and in the center of São Paulo, in the northeast of Brazil and Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. In addition, he held the positions of Director of the Center for Migration Studies (CEM) for 7 years; Advisor to the National Conference of Catholic Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) for 5 years; and Provincial Superior of the Scalabrinian Province São Paulo for 5 years.
He obtained his bachelor’s in Philosophy at Our Lady Mediatrix College, in São Paulo, his bachelor’s in Theology at the Theological Institute of São Paulo (ITESP) and his bachelor’s in Religion Sciences, at the Pontifical University of São Paulo (PUC).
