Scalabrini Apostleship of the Sea Network
The mission of the Scalabrini Apostleship of the Sea Network is to promote the welfare of the people of the sea worldwide. Its vision is focus on a maritime world where there are no strangers, thus, our Centers are a home-away-from-home for the people of the sea.
The Scalabrinian Apostleship of the Sea Network provides seafarers with a variety of services. Seafarers can spend weeks and even months at sea, shipping the world’s goods, for little pay, exhausting hours, and no connection to their loved ones. The Scalabrinians, through their Apostleship, have organized teams of priests and Catholic laypeople to board ships and minister to the sailors, through masses and blessing ceremonies. Furthermore, when seafarers arrive at any of the nine port cities where Scalabrinian has established their centers, they find a vast array of services, including shelter; training programs; access international telephone lines and internet to connect with their loved ones; recreation centers; lending libraries for enjoyment while at sea; as well as television, shopping, and much more.
Currently, the Scalabrinians fund 9 Centers in the following port cities: Buenos Aires, Argentina; Rio de Jainero, Santos, and Rio Grande, Brazil; Montevideo, Uruguay; Ravenna, Italy; Manila, Philippines; Kaohsiung, Taiwan; and Cape Town, South Africa; and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.Help Us, Donate Now
