L’Austria ha avviato la costruzione di una barriera al passo del Brennero per fermare un eventuale e straordinario flusso di migranti provenienti dall’Italia. La Commissione europea, per bocca della portavoce Natasha Bertaud, esprime preoccupazione per il materializzarsi di un tale piano che ostacola il principio della libera circolazione, principio fondamentale dell’Ue, mentre il cancelliere austriaco Werner Faymann, anche sotto la pressione delle imminenti elezioni, conferma che “il management di confine al Brennero e le nuove misure legislative sul diritto d’asilo non sono auspicabili, ma necessari e giusti”.

Austria has launched the construction of a barrier at the Brenner Pass to stop any and extraordinary flow of migrants from Italy. The European Commission, through the words of its spokesman Natasha Bertaud, expresses concern about the materialization of such a plan, that hinders the principle of free movement, a fundamental principle of the EU, while the Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann, also under the pressure of the upcoming elections, confirms that “the management of the border at the Brenner and new legislation on asylum are not desirable, but are necessary and right”.
