A New Home for Migrants

Tacna, Peru – November 25th, 2015. On the 24th of November, 2015, in Tacna, Peru, a few kilometers from the border with Chile, a new home for migrants, Santa Rosa de Lima, was completed.  The event was commemorated with a Holy Mass followed by a blessing of the commemorative plaque. This House was a joint project, with the participation of Diocese of Tacna and Moquegua, and of the Congregation of the missionaries of St. Charles Scalabrinians, supported by the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN).Tacna, Peru – November 25th, 2015. Tacna, Peru – 25 de novembro de 2015. No dia 24 de novembro de 2015, em Tacna, Peru, há poucos quilômetros da fronteira com o Chile, foi inaugurada a nova Casa de Acolhida do Migrante Santa Rosa de Lima. Às 16:00 horas, foi celebrada a Santa Missa, seguida da Bênção da Placa Comemorativa. Brasil concederá status de residente permanente a 44 mil haitianos

O governo brasileiro anunciou que concederá residência permanente a 43.781 imigrantes haitianos que solicitaram refúgio no Brasil de janeiro de 2011 a julho de 2015. 

Essa população vive hoje -alguns deles há quatro anos- apenas com um protocolo da solicitação do refúgio, já que sua situação, na avaliação do governo brasileiro, não se enquadra nos requisitos de refugiado: ter sido vítima de perseguição ou de violação de direitos humanos.
