Washington DC, 10 de julio, 2014 – Entre el 7 y 10 de julio de 2014, fue celebrada la 14ª Conferencia Nacional de Migración, organizada por la Conferencia Episcopal de los Estados Unidos, la Red Legal Católica de Inmigración (CLINIC) y el Servicio de Caridad Católica de Estados Unidos (CRS).

La Conferencia Nacional de Migración tiene por objeto fortalecer y mejorar la capacidad de las entidades católicas en el servicio a los migrantes, refugiados y víctimas de trata, para que tengan una vida más digna; a la vez busca asegurar por todos los medios posibles el respeto de sus derechos  como personas.

Washington DC, July 10th - The 14th National Conference on Migration was held from July 7th to 10th, organized by the Episcopal Conference of the United States, the Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC) and the United States Catholic Charity Service (CRS).

The National Migration Conference aims to strengthen and improve the capacity of Catholic institutions in their service to migrants, refugees and victims of trafficking and to provide them with a better life, while also seeking to guarantee that their rights are respected.

New Global Database

The new global database implemented by SIMN will allow Casas de Migrantes (House of Migrants) network and its reception centers, as well as its Apostleship of the Sea, to not only enhance their networking but also to generate consolidated information, with the goal of better understanding the variables that affect human mobility. The purpose of this project, which began late 2013, is to create a global computer network supported by an online database and various web interfaces, which will allow its users to register a variety of data. Much of this data has already been recorded by these institutions, but the data has not be consolidated and past processes have lacked homogeneity; causing difficulties in analysis with valuable information lost.

SIMN Holds its Fifth International Forum on Migration and Peace in Berlin

SIMN’s V Forum, titled “Integration: Towards a Peaceful and Democratic Coexistence”, was held on June 11 and 12 in Berlin, Germany, at Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung headquarters. SIMN has held such forums annually since 2009, when the first forum was developed and held in Antigua, Guatemala. These meetings have been key to stimulating high level dialogue and to defining concrete actions within the multifaceted links between migration and pacific coexistence between host communities and migrants.
