Colombia and Venezuela: Brothers in Conflict, a Border in Crisis

Seeking to make the complex migration situation on the border between Colombia and Venezuela visible, the Cúcuta Scalabrinian mission advanced the Conference "Colombia and Venezuela: Brothers in Conflict, a Border in Crisis". Through this conference, it was possible to understand the socio-economic reality of the city, as well as the results of the migration profiles of the 1740 deportees served at the Scalabrinian Shelter in 2015, and the results of a multi-sectoral evaluation carried out by the United Nations Office regarding the level of unsatisfied basic needs of the 380 households between deportees and Venezuelans located in Scalabrinian neighborhoods, families in a complex situation who arrived in the last 18 months.

On June 11, 2017, the celebration of Migrant Week and its family was held. This activity was developed in the Basilica Cathedral of Lima, and it was organized by the Pastoral of Human Mobility of the Peruvian Episcopal Conference which is under the responsibility of the Scalabrinian priests.

Buscando visibilizar  la compleja situación migratoria en la frontera entre Colombia y Venezuela, la misión Cúcuta Scalabriniana adelantó el Conversatorio "Colombia y Venezuela: hermanos en conflicto, una frontera en crisis"; a través del espacio se logró comprender la realidad socio económica de la ciudad, así como los resultados del perfil migratorio de los 1740 deportados atendidos en el centro de migraciones en 2015; como punto central se evidenciaron los resultados de una evaluación multisectorial adelantada por la oficina de Naciones Unidas, respecto al nivel de necesidades básicas insatisfechas, de los 380 hogares entre deportados y venezolanos ubicados en los barrios de incidencia Scalabriniana, familias en compleja situación y que han arribado desde los últimos 18 meses.
