From May 12 to 16th of 2014, the 7th Global Forum on Migration and Development was hosted in Stockholm, Sweden, with the theme “Unlocking the potential of migration for inclusive development.” The meeting, which gathered some 900 delegates from over 140 countries and 30 international organizations around the globe, began with two days of civil society panels, followed by a common space day between civil society organizations and governments and concluded with two days of government panels.Read More

SIMN presents at the First Congress of the Pastoral of Human Mobility in Latin America and the Caribbean
For many years, the Ministry of Human Mobility in Latin America and the Caribbean has been strengthening and advancing the recognition, defense and promotion of the rights and dignity of migrants. The conference, grounded in the Gospel and the social teaching of the Church, was attended by a large number of ecclesiastical and religious authorities, as well as by laity and representatives of civil society organizations, whose missions are to discover the best options formobile populations, understanding their high vulnerability and suffering. Mobile populations, which include thousands of people living in the region, must move not only in search of better opportunities, but many times for basic survival.Read More
