C\u00facuta, Colombia, April 15, 2021<\/strong> – At the facilities of the Missionaries of the Colombian Red Cross from Norte de Santander and the Missionaries of Saint Charles Scalabrininans, it was possible to assist a vulnerable population not insured by the Colombian health system in the neighborhoods of Commune 7.<\/p>\n

Our humanitarian assistance provided in Commune 7 to people affected by the migratory situation -on this occasion with the special health day- served more than 400 vulnerable people, most of them of Venezuelan origin and without any affiliation to the health system of the Camilo Daza neighborhood in C\u00facuta.<\/p>\n

The development of these joint actions is focused on meeting the needs of basic medical care service, with the support of nursing for family planning, deworming of children, and nutritional assessment (delivery of supplements), with psychosocial support.<\/p>\n

Among the most common causes of consultation in patients were symptoms of cough, headache, joint pain, medical tests, intestinal parasites, and nutritional deficiencies.<\/p>\n

The assistance day concluded with educational meetings and deliveries of COVID 19 prevention kits such as healthy lifestyles, dengue prevention, sexual and reproductive health and rights, guidance on care routes, and prevention of xenophobia.<\/p>\n

Faced with the precarious health system that the Venezuelan people live in, the destruction of the health sector, and the COVID-19 pandemic, migrants arrive in the city with the urgent need to be treated in one of the basic rights to which any citizen of the world can access to, health service.<\/p>\n
