\u201cEven One of These Little Ones\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n On September 27, 2026<\/strong>, the Catholic Church will celebrate the 112th World Day of Migrants and Refugees<\/strong>, proclaimed by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV<\/strong> under the theme \u201cEven One of These Little Ones.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> The theme places at the center of reflection, prayer, and pastoral action the situation of children and adolescents affected by forced migration, displacement, and refuge. The message is a call to recognize that every person possesses an inherent and inalienable dignity and that protecting migrant children represents an ethical, humanitarian, legal, and spiritual imperative for the international community.<\/p>\n From the perspective of the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN)<\/strong>, this World Day takes on particular significance in a global context marked by unprecedented human displacement, growing vulnerabilities, and emerging challenges for the governance of human mobility. The current reality requires moving beyond responses focused exclusively on controlling migration flows toward approaches that place human dignity, comprehensive protection, and sustainable human development at the center of public policies and international cooperation.<\/p>\n Inspired by the vision of Magnifica Humanitas<\/strong>, we understand human mobility as a privileged space for promoting human dignity, universal fraternity, and the global common good. Migrants and refugees are not merely recipients of assistance or protection; they are also rights holders, agents of development, builders of intercultural communities, and true prophets of hope for our societies.<\/p>\n The Ethics of Human Mobility<\/strong> calls us to promote a true Culture of International Protection<\/strong>, based on the centrality of the human person, solidarity, shared responsibility, and unwavering respect for fundamental rights. This vision recognizes that protection does not end with access to a migration or refugee status; rather, it is fully realized through inclusion, participation, family reunification, access to rights, and the creation of opportunities for the integral development of individuals and communities.<\/p>\n Rooted in Scalabrinian spirituality and mission, we reaffirm our commitment to the welcoming, protection, promotion, and integration<\/strong> of migrants and refugees.
