Paskong Pinoy in Cape Town: A Night of Joy and Homecoming

Stella Maris Cape Town was honored to join the Filipino community in celebrating a truly special Christmas gathering on December 7th.

The evening was made even more meaningful by the presence of 27 Filipino seafarers and fishers who, despite being far from their families and homes, were able to experience a warm and festive Paskong Pinoy (Filipino Christmas). Their smiles and excitement were a beautiful reminder of how important these moments of connection are.

With nearly 200 Filipinos coming together, the celebration became a vibrant expression of culture, unity, and hope. For our seafarers—who spend long months navigating distant seas—the event provided a heartfelt sense of belonging and a refreshing taste of home.

The night was filled with:

  • Traditional Filipino dishes that brought familiar comfort and flavor.

  • Games that sparked laughter and camaraderie.

  • Music that lifted spirits and filled the room with Christmas cheer.

No matter how far they may be from the Philippines, the spirit of Pasko continues to bind them together. Truly, the Filipino community remains one family—wherever they may be.
