Alliance for the Health of the Disadvantaged

Cúcuta, Colombia, December 13, 2019– A health service program was carried out in the Scalabrinian Center Centro Piloto for vulnerable populations in the neighborhoods of Scalabrinian incidence.

On this occasion the program provided general medical consultation and delivery of first-line medications; The Red Cross mobile unit assisted children under malnutrition, pregnant women, the elderly, women and men for 3 days.

It was possible to detect that the most common pathologies in patients were intestinal parasites, respiratory infections, scabiosis, and dermatological pathologies. Also, medications were given for 2 or 3 months for chronic diseases, depending on how advanced the disease is.

For health professionals, a trigger for these pathologies in those treated was the lack of healthy hygienic conditions in homes, so the consultations made the respective recommendations to carry a hygiene and health protocol in each of the homes.
