Integration Festival for Venezuelan and Colombian Children

Cúcuta, October 17, 2019 – The event that took place in the Scalabrinian Center Centro Piloto of the Camilo Daza neighborhood was organized by the Help in Action Foundation, Scalabrinian Missionaries and with the financial support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

This cultural celebration is part of the closing of the project “Humanitarian Aid and Protection for the Migrant Population.” This is the project that was executed with three fundamental components benefiting 160,000 people in a condition of vulnerability, through information points, hydration for walkers, food kit, hygiene kit, and daily lunches to families in the community dining room María Madre de los Migrantes in the José Bernal neighborhood.

The children had a day where they enjoyed various cultural activities, sports, dances, puppet show, theater, magic and children’s games. The communities were part of the staging as an exercise in collective creation based on what they feel and wanted to express as a vulnerable community.

The purpose of these events is to foster fraternity among local and migrant children population, reaffirming the values of solidarity and fraternity that unite these two countries. Cultural exchange is a call for the principle of humanity to be the one that guides us, generating bonds of fraternity and respect.
