New York, 18 December 2015 – In response to the increasing number of refugees and migrants crossing borders seeking a better life, throughout 2015 SIMN supported new services provided by the Scalabrini Migration Centers and Shelters, the establishment of new migration centers, development and capacity building programs, in addition to research and advocacy initiatives at the national, regional, and international level.
On the International Migrants Day 2015, in the framework of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) renews its commitment to safeguarding the dignity of migrants, refugees, seafarers, and their families and reiterates the importance of defining and implementing policies and programs to protect their human rights, regardless of their migration status.
