Mass of Thanksgiving to Celebrate the Anniversary of the Canonization of Saint John the Baptist Scalabrini

Cúcuta, October 9, 2023 – On the occasion of the first anniversary of the canonization of the founder of the Scalabrinian congregation, Juan Bautista Scalabrini, a thanksgiving mass was held at the Cristo Rey educational headquarters, an institution administered by the Scalabrinians. The Scalabrinian Fathers, José Ramos and Andrei Zanon, officiated this emotional ceremony.

During the mass, a special invitation was made to all the staff of the Colegio Camilo Daza Educational Institution. It was a call to be moved by the difficult situation of those who need support, those helpless who often require a helping hand, the support of a companion and brother, just as the saint Scalabrini taught with his own actions.

Saint Scalabrini, who demonstrated his empathy towards people with various difficulties, not only took care of migrants. He founded an institute for the deaf and mute, giving dignity to those who had no voice. Likewise, he urged us to learn to listen to those around us and reach out to those who need it most.

We are called to follow a path of virtue through good actions so that our deeds speak louder than words. Thus, educational work becomes a path to justice for young people who face challenges and have few opportunities to advance in life.

We must be Scalabrinians in heart, mind, and action, being consistent in spreading the wisdom and legacy of the founder of our congregation, the Missionaries of Saint Charles Scalabrinians.
