Fundación Scalabrini and SIMN virtually launched Atención integral y mediación laboral en el CIAMI – Fundación Scalabrini: Ensayo preliminar de sistematización
Santiago, Chile – November 9, 2021 – Fundación Scalabrini and the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) officially announced the launching of Atención integral y mediación laboral en el CIAMI – Fundación Scalabrini: Ensayo preliminar de sistematización on November 9, 2021. Participants of the event included Fr. Leonir Chiarello, C.S., Superior General of the Scalabrinian Missionaries; Fr. Jairo Guidini, C.S., Executive Director of SIMN; Fr. Isaldo Bettin, C.S., President of Fundación Scalabrini; Fr. Sidnei Marco Dornelas, C.S.; and Mr. Julio Croci, Representative of the Office of the International Organization for Migration of the Special Envoy for the Regional Response to the Situation of Venezuela.
The publication seeks to take the first steps towards a systematization of the 20 years of activity of the Centro Integrado de Atención al Migrante (CIAMI), with a focus on at the core of its proposal, an intervention model and mediation for the insertion of migrants supported by a vision of comprehensive care. This project is framed in the relevant situation of emergencies created in the last three years (2018-2020) with the emergence of the Venezuelan migration and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The virtual event was an opportunity to share the successful experiences and good practices carried out together with migrants in the Centro Integrado de Atención al Migrante (CIAMI), administered by Fundación Scalabrini, as an inspiring model for Scalabrinian entities and other institutions and international organization who work with migrants.
“Without a doubt, this research, this publication, and this reflection that we have had, will help us to look for lights, paths, and new answers to the new migratory phenomena that we find, and if it does not help Chile -because of the restrictions in the new legislation- at least we hope it will help other countries,” stated Fr. Isaldo Bettin, C.S., President of Fundación Scalabrini.
