SIMN and Scalabrini Foundation Promote Regional Meeting of MADE Americas in Lima, Peru
Lima, Peru, October 16, 2014 – On October 14th and 15th, 2014, the regional meeting of the Migration and Development Civil Society Network (MADE) was held in Lima, Peru. This program arises from various concerns of civil society networks and coalitions worldwide, and previous discussions that emerged from the Global Forums on Migration and Development (GFMD) since 2011.
The event was coordinated by the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN), with the support of the Scalabrini Foundation of Chile, and in collaboration with the International Network on Migration and Development (INMD), which is also a member of the MADE Americas Program, and the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC), which coordinates the MADE program worldwide. SIMN Attends XVI Migration Conference in Santiago, Chile
Santiago, August 11 – Under the theme of Migrants’ Human Rights and Migration Governance in Chile, the XVI Migratory Conference was held on August 7th and 8th, an initiative managed by the INCAMI and the SIMN through the Scalabrini Foundation. The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile through its Directorate of Consular Policy, the Ministry of Interior and Public Security of Chile through the Department of Immigration and Migration, the Senate of the Republic, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
This type of meeting is key because it allows us to share experiences, thoughts, and especially to make proposals, based on dialogue, and debate and search for synergies between different stakeholders who are directly or indirectly related to migration.
