Scalabrini International Migration Network Participates in Seminar on Mental Health for Aspiring Seafarers

Manila, Philippines, December 7, 2024. – The Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) proudly participated in the recently concluded seminar on mental health for aspiring seafarers, hosted by Stella Maris-Manila from December 2 to 6, 2024. The event, supported by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development and the Archdiocese of Manila, brought together professionals and advocates to address the mental well-being of future Filipino seafarers.

The seminar aimed to equip guidance counselors and student affairs practitioners with tools and strategies to support young seafarers as they prepare for the challenges of life at sea. With a focus on empowerment and development, the initiative underscores the importance of mental health in ensuring that these individuals are resilient, confident, and well-prepared to navigate the demanding environments of the maritime industry.

This initiative aligns with SIMN’s mission to promote the dignity and holistic care of migrants, including those pursuing maritime careers. By participating in events like this, SIMN reinforces its commitment to supporting individuals and communities in need, especially in sectors as vital as the maritime industry.

The Scalabrini International Migration Network commends Stella Maris-Manila, the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, and the Archdiocese of Manila for their leadership in this significant undertaking.
