More than 500 pre-registrations have been delivered, and appointments have been scheduled for the third biometric phase. And we continue touring the neighborhoods.

Cúcuta, Colombia – March 25, 2022 – Since February, the Scalabrini Corporation has carried out an assisted pre-registration for the Temporary Protection Status for Venezuelans (ETPV), a state process to be able to regularize their immigration status in Colombia for 10 years.

This pre-registration is the first phase of the process, ending with the fourth phase by obtaining a physical document called a Temporary Protection Permit (PPT) delivered by Migración Colombia, a state entity in charge of carrying out these actions with the Venezuelan migrant population.

In this sense, the Scalabrini Corporation accompanies professionals who assist migrants to regularize themselves, guiding them in the process, taking into account that a large part of foreigners do not have resources, knowledge, or guidance in the procedure.

Through conferences in the neighborhoods, a large population that does not have the means to mobilize is reached. More than 500 pre-registrations have already been delivered and appointments have been scheduled for the third biometric phase. This third phase will be held on the first biometric day at a focal point in the Camilo Daza neighborhood at the end of April in coordination with Migración Colombia and the Municipal Mayor’s Office of Cúcuta.

Following the work plan projected by the Scalabrini Corporation with the RUMV registry, the following neighborhood sessions will be held on April: 4, 5, and 6 in the Talento neighborhood; 7 and 8 in the Brisas del Mirador neighborhood in commune 8 of the city of Cúcuta.

Likewise, we call on the regular and irregular migrant population to attend the sessions and not miss the deadline, which is May 28, 2022, the time established by Migración Colombia to obtain this document.

According to data from Migración Colombia, in the city of Cúcuta, 32% of migrants don’t go to the appointment to get the PPT. A high number, considering that the border city is one of the areas of the country with the largest Venezuelan population; to which the National Director of that entity stated that those who cannot attend the biometric appointment must cancel it virtually through https://www.migracioncolombia.gov.co/rumv.

Venezuelan citizens with this new document in our country can access health, education, formal work, financial services, add time to process a resident visa, among other benefits. Including the migrant population as civilians is the slogan of the Colombian government so that they contribute to the nation and at the same time they can be legally and have a decent life.
