New York, February 20, 2024.- The Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) has officially joined the Global Coalition for Social Justice, an initiative established by the governing body of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The Global Coalition for Social Justice is a pioneering effort dedicated to intensifying collective endeavors to urgently tackle social justice disparities and accelerate the realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the Decent Work Agenda. By creating a collaborative platform for action, advocacy, and dialogue, the Coalition seeks to empower partners to shape individual and collective opportunities for tangible outcomes in the pursuit of social justice. The ultimate goal will be to achieve a greater balance among the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development, to significantly reduce inequalities and poverty, and to meet essential needs and opportunities worldwide.
By joining the Global Coalition for Social Justice, SIMN has an opportunity to increase the scale and impact of its actions by working jointly with others in a more coherent and coordinated manner, identifying new opportunities and partnerships with other participants, and increasing the visibility of its actions and initiatives to advance social justice by benefiting from a broader network of actors to showcase and highlight progress and impact. The Coalition will also allow SIMN to leverage the power of social dialogue and tripartism as an effective means to advance social justice in a sustainable manner.
“We are honored to have joined the Global Coalition for Social Justice and eager to contribute to collective efforts aimed at addressing social justice disparities,” stated Fr. Márcio Toniazzo, Executive Director at SIMN. “This partnership presents an invaluable opportunity to leverage our expertise and networks to advocate for the rights of vulnerable populations and drive meaningful change on a global scale.”
As an influential international network with a longstanding commitment to serving migrants, refugees, and displaced communities, SIMN stands poised to collaborate closely within the Coalition, leveraging its expertise, diverse initiatives, and deep-rooted networks to further the cause of social justice on a global scale.
