Bogotá, September 4, 2025 – The Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN), in coordination with the Saint Charles Borromeo Province, concluded today the Provincial Meeting of Directors of Migrant Shelters and Centers, a collaborative workspace aimed at strengthening the mission of supporting and serving migrants and refugees.
The meeting concluded with a Participatory Situational Assessment of the Migrant and Refugee Population, in which the directors and leaders of the shelters and centers shared their experiences and reflections on their daily support of migrant communities.
This exercise allowed for:
- Identification of the main barriers to access to rights faced by migrants and refugees.
- Recognition of the capacities and strengths present in the communities.
- Gather solutions proposed from local practice and shared experience.
- Define priorities for action to advance more comprehensive and sustainable responses.
The Meeting was a significant step toward continuing to collectively build pastoral and social responses that promote dignity, inclusion, and hope for thousands of migrants and refugees.
With initiatives like this, SIMN and the Saint Charles Borromeo Province reinforce their commitment to working for a more inclusive, just, and fraternal world, in which every person on the move is recognized as a subject of rights and a protagonist of their own future.
