On September 1st Stella Maris Kaohsiung joined with Global Labor Justice – International Labor Rights Forum (GLJ-ILRF), Taiwan Association for Human Rights (TAHR), Serve the People Association (SPA), Humanity Research Consultancy (HRC), Forum Silaturahmi Pelaut Indonesia (FOSPI) and supporters for “Wi-Fi Now for Fishers’ Rights” campaign at a press conference in Taipei.
During the event, key allies, NGOs, and supporters emphasized the vital role of WIFI access for fishermen. WIFI not only contributes to the creation of a healthier and safer working environment, thus preventing forced labor but also enhances the mental well-being of fishermen, among other benefits.
Given these crucial considerations, Stella Maris Kaohsiung strongly urges the Taiwanese government to swiftly enact legislation mandating WIFI accessibility on all Taiwanese distant-water fishing vessels.
