Students From Scalabrinian Schools in Cúcuta, Colombia Received School Kits

Cúcuta, March 4, 2020 – Like every beginning of the year, from our Scalabrinian Mission, we make alliances for the delivery of school supplies to low-income children donated by local companies. This year we have the support of the NGO Cámara Junior Internacional (JCI), a partner with whom we are working on projects that positively impact the population of Scalabrinian incidence.

With the support of Emisora Olímpica Cúcuta, recreational activities were held for the youngest children who enjoyed a day of dancing, games and various surprise prizes.

Also included in this initiative were the stationery store El Gran Mayorista and the Mayor’s Office of San José de Cúcuta from the Administrative Department of Social Welfare; with whom it was possible to deliver more than 200 school kits, consisting of notebooks, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, among other supplies.

These efforts contribute to a quality and dignified education within the framework of the fourth objective of the sustainable development of the United Nations. We manage to bring together different economic sectors of the city of Cúcuta to contribute a grain of sand to the social transformation required by the most vulnerable populations.

These benefited children are part of the Scalabrini School of the I.E. Camilo Daza, who « also receive accompaniment from a reading club in the neighborhoods, so is not only this welfare activity but a process of learning and motivating literacy habits, » said JCI Community Director Gabriel Gallego.
