Weaving the Future in Community: Closing Ceremony of Workshops at the Scalabrini Community Center

On December 5th, the Scalabrini Community Center celebrated the graduation of participants from the « Weaving the Future » sewing, haircutting, nail and gel, and eyebrow and eyelash extension workshops, held from September 1st to November 29th.

These training opportunities opened their doors to migrants from the Scalabrini Center and the Archangel Rafael Migrant Shelter, as well as residents of Magdalena Atlazolpa, Mexico, creating a true community fabric where learning is shared and dreams are strengthened.

The ceremony was led by Father Julio López, Director of the Center and the Foundation, accompanied by officials from the Iztapalapa Borough. Their support—including the contributions of the instructors who taught the courses—was fundamental to making this initiative possible.

Special thanks to Edith, Eimmy, Mari, and Judith for their commitment and dedication. Each participant was also celebrated, as their dedication and effort demonstrated that investing in oneself is an act of hope.

The event concluded with a cultural presentation full of music and dance, a reminder that learning not only transforms individual lives but also strengthens the entire community.

Because when one person grows, we all grow.
