Welcoming Center Beato Scalabrini’s First Anniversary

Lima, August 7, 2019 – On Tuesday, August 6, the first anniversary of the Blessed Juan Bautista Scalabrini Shelter in Lima, directed by the Scalabrinian Association in Peru, was celebrated.

A Eucharistic celebration was presided by Fr. Nivaldo Feliciano cs, executive secretary of the PMH, and concelebrated by the priests Fr. Luiz Do Arte, cs, Director of the House and Fr. Rodenei Sierpinski, cs parish priest of our parish Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro del Callao.

During the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Luiz Do Arte thanked all the migrants and refugees who have passed through the welcoming center in this first year, as well as the members of the team working in the center, likewise, he urged everyone present to continue dreaming of improving the care provided with the support of various national and international institutions. Especially the Bridges of Solidarity Project of the Migrant and Refugee Section of the Holy See.

Participants of the event included many migrants who had passed through the center, as well as various institutions such as UNHCR, IOM, Caritas del Peru, among others, who highlighted the work being done.

From the Pastoral of Human Mobility of the Peruvian Episcopal Conference, we highlight the work that has been carried out during this first year for the benefit of hundreds of migrants and refugees of various nationalities.

The Scalabrini Welcoming Center has a capacity for 80 people installed, it provides comprehensive services that include legal, psychological, spiritual advice, as well as daily food and lodging for men, women and entire families. The current Director is Fr. Luiz Carlos Do Arte, CS. The house is located in the district of San Miguel in Lima.
