In Uganda, the Scalabrinian mission continues to transform lives through its vocational training programs for refugee women. The first group of 25 refugee mothers, now in their final month of tailoring training, has shown remarkable progress and dedication. As they prepare to begin internships in the tailoring industry, their growing confidence and independence are a reflection of their hard work and the mission’s commitment to empowerment through skills development.
Throughout the course, the participants have mastered the art of garment construction, producing a diverse range of clothing items such as African wear, round dresses, Nigerian wear, uniform shorts and trousers, three-step dresses, gathered dresses, and Peter Pan uniform dresses. Their ability to create these garments with minimal supervision speaks volumes about their skill level and determination.
This training not only equips the mothers with technical expertise but also provides them with opportunities for self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods. The Scalabrinian mission in Uganda remains dedicated to supporting refugee communities by fostering dignity, independence, and hope through education and professional training.
