New York, September 2, 2020 – The Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) has just published three new books, Public Policies on Migration and Civil Society in Latin America – The Cases of Ecuador, Uruguay, and Venezuela; Integration and Development: From Reaction to Action – Proceedings of the Sixth International Forum on Migration and Peace; and Esperienze e buone prassi di integrazione locale a confronto il sistema di seconda accoglienza di richiedenti asilo e rifugiati in Italia e Germania 2016.

Available in English and Spanish, Public Policies on Migration and Civil Society in Latin America – The Cases of Ecuador, Uruguay, and Venezuela is made up of three studies around the definition and implementation of public policies and the role of civil society in these three countries in South America. The studies offer an updated diagnosis of the main trends in migratory flows and the initiatives being carried out by political and social actors working in the field of migration in Ecuador, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

In the framework of the third anniversary of the VI International Forum on Migration and Peace, Integration and Development: From Reaction to Action –Proceedings of the Sixth International Forum on Migration and Peace brings together the interventions presented by invited speakers of the Forum, including the opening address of His Holiness Pope Francis to the participants in the Forum, in which His Holiness invited the political community, civil society organizations and the Church to respond urgently to the challenges of contemporary migratory movements in an articulated way by four verbs: to welcome, to protect, to promote and to integrate.

Lastly and available in Italian only, Esperienze e buone prassi di integrazione locale a confronto il sistema di seconda accoglienza di richiedenti asilo e rifugiati in Italia e Germania 2016. This research has the dual objective of studying and comparing the second reception system for asylum seekers and holders of international protection in Italy and Germany, and identify good practices that can represent models for a fairer process of socio-cultural and work integration for these people.
