The Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) and Fundación Scalabriniana presented a Joint Statement during the International Migration Review Forum 2026 reaffirming their commitment to a migration governance model centered on human dignity, rights, and inclusion. Inspired by the Catholic Church’s mission of welcome, protection, promotion, and integration, the statement highlights the urgent need to expand safe and regular migration pathways, protect vulnerable populations, end the detention of migrant children, and combat exploitation, xenophobia, and discrimination.
The statement also calls on governments, the United Nations, and civil society to move from commitments to concrete action by implementing humane and rights-based migration policies. SIMN and Fundación Scalabriniana further emphasized the importance of promoting a “Culture of Migration” that recognizes migrants as agents of development and strengthens social cohesion through solidarity, participation, and intercultural dialogue.
