The United States and other nations are hosting a leader’s summit on September 20th to discuss the world refugee crisis and how nations can increase their commitments to refugee protection worldwide.
Before the September 20th summit, join experts, academics and civil society for a shadow summit from 8:30am to 11:00am online or in-person at the Center for Migration Studies of New York (307 East 60th Street, 6th Floor, New York).
The event will look at the U.S. record in its own backyard, specifically the policy response to unaccompanied children and families fleeing violence in the Northern Triangle of Central America. Speakers will grade U.S. policies from a humanitarian perspective, examining push factors, protection needs, and the impact of enforcement and deterrence strategies.
