SIMN Joins the International Community in Commemorating World Day of Social Justice

On 20 February, the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) joins the international community in commemorating World Day of Social Justice, a moment to reaffirm our collective responsibility to build societies rooted in dignity, equity, and solidarity. For migrants, refugees, and seafarers, social justice is not an abstract concept—it is the difference between exploitation and decent work, exclusion and belonging, vulnerability and protection. As a faith-based global network, SIMN remains committed to promoting fair labor conditions, living wages, social protection, and humane migration policies that place the human person at the center of development.

In light of the commitments renewed following the Second World Summit on Social Development in Doha, SIMN calls for sustained action to advance responsible governance, inclusive economic systems, and meaningful social dialogue. Migration must be recognized as part of the solution to global development challenges, not as a problem to be contained. On this World Day of Social Justice, we reaffirm our mission to walk alongside people on the move and to advocate for structures that uphold their rights, protect their dignity, and ensure that no one is left behind.
