SIMN Promotes Meeting of Directors of Migrant Shelters and Centers in São Paulo

From September 22 to 26, the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) organized a meeting at the São João XXIII Seminary in São Paulo, bringing together directors of shelters and centers for migrants from Brazil and Paraguay. The purpose was to conduct a participatory assessment of the missions, update the networking project, and explore possible strategic alliances to strengthen work on behalf of migrants and refugees.

The meeting was attended by directors of various shelters and centers in Brazil and Paraguay, as well as representatives of the Pastoral Care of Human Mobility. Together, they shared experiences, reflected on current challenges, and evaluated new forms of cooperation.

The program included an analysis of migratory flows in Brazil and presentations from international organizations such as UNHCR and IOM. The main challenges and opportunities for collaboration were also discussed, defining joint strategies to expand the effectiveness of the missions. The meeting concluded with follow-up agreements and the projection of future actions to consolidate the network’s presence in the region, always in favor of the dignity and rights of migrants.
