Geneva, Switzerland, December 11, 2023.- The Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) participated in the Cartagena+40 event, held within the framework of the Global Refugee Forum in Geneva, Switzerland, on December 11, 2023.
This side event brought together high-level figures, including government representatives, a UNHCR delegate, members of faith-based organizations, and a refugee who shared her moving testimony. Cartagena+40 brought together key stakeholders to discuss future strategies in the context of the growing global migration and refugee crises.
Organized by faith-based entities, the main objective of this meeting was to foster constructive dialogue between governments and faith-based organizations, strengthening their joint commitment to the application of current legal frameworks on refugee topics. This is aligned with the spirit of the Cartagena Declaration and highlights cooperation in the formulation and implementation of the Chile Action Plan or Cartagena+40. The fundamental importance of organizations in providing humanitarian aid and services to people in situations of forced human mobility was recognized.
