Mexico and Central America Region

Casas del Migrante in Mexico and Central America continue to make efforts to support migrants, migrants in transit, asylum seekers, refugee families, shelter residents, as well as returnees and deportees from the United States and Mexico, through programmatic and emergency programs established and adjusted to address the crisis.

Unemployed individuals, both local people, migrants, refugees, and returnees, are receiving support through the distribution of groceries, cleaning products, quarantine supplies, and medications to people with chronic diseases.

Staff members and doctors conduct home visits to vulnerable groups within the communities. Casa del Migrante in Guatemala, donated masks and hygiene kits to be used at the governmental reception centers for deported people. Informational, preventive, and psychological initiatives are carried out to avoid the virus spread, isolation, and mental disorders.
