On July 30th, the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) joins the global community in commemorating the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to protecting the dignity, freedom, and rights of migrants, refugees, seafarers and fishers, and displaced persons who are especially vulnerable to exploitation and human trafficking.
Human trafficking remains one of the gravest violations of human rights in our time. Millions of people—many of them women and children—are deceived, coerced, and sold into situations of forced labor, sexual exploitation, and abuse. Migrants, in particular, face heightened risks due to unsafe migration routes, lack of legal protections, and economic desperation.
Scalabrinian missions and organizations across the world respond daily to these injustices. Through shelters, legal assistance, education, advocacy, and trauma-informed care, SIMN and its partners accompany survivors on their journey toward healing and freedom.
SIMN urges all stakeholders to prioritize safe and regular migration pathways, strengthen anti-trafficking laws, and invest in community-based solutions that uphold human rights and foster long-term integration.
We remain committed to building a world where no person is bought or sold—and where every migrant is treated with justice, compassion, and respect.
