Geneva, June 3, 2025 — The Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) is participating in the 113th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC), taking place in Geneva from June 2–13, 2025. As a member organization of the International Labour Organization (ILO), SIMN joins government, employer, and worker delegates from the ILO’s 187 Member States to address some of the most pressing issues facing the world of work today.
This year’s conference will focus on the development of new international standards on the protection of workers against biological hazards, the advancement of decent work in the platform economy, and innovative strategies to support transitions from informal to formal employment.
SIMN brings to the Conference its longstanding commitment to the rights and dignity of migrants and refugees, with a particular focus on labor mobility, safe migration, and just working conditions. Through its global network of migrant centers, shelters, and advocacy initiatives, SIMN continues to amplify the voices of migrant workers and promote international cooperation for a more inclusive and equitable labor landscape.
“We believe that global challenges such as labor exploitation, informality, and occupational health risks can only be addressed through collaborative, cross-border solutions,” said Fr. Márcio Toniazzo, Executive Director of SIMN. “Our presence here reaffirms our commitment to shaping labor policies that prioritize the dignity, safety, and well-being of all workers—especially those in the most vulnerable positions.”
SIMN looks forward to engaging in meaningful dialogue with partners and policymakers and contributing to the advancement of labor rights in line with its mission of protecting and empowering migrant communities around the world.
