On November 6th, the graduation ceremony for the first edition of the Empowering Refugee Women program was held in Florianópolis. This initiative, a collaboration between UNHCR Brazil, UN Women Brazil, and the UN Global Compact Brazil, aims to strengthen the autonomy and employability of refugee and migrant women in the capital of Santa Catarina.
The Scalabrini Mission was honored to be the organizing partner for this edition, supporting the mobilization of participants and the implementation of the training activities. A total of 28 women completed the course “Personal and Professional Development and Quality Customer Service,” which covered fundamental topics for entering the workforce in Brazil, such as communication, professional demeanor, emotional intelligence, and other key areas. The training also included practical classes, field visits, seminars, and a guided activity at a Renner store.
The training sessions took place at the SENAC School, with the valuable support of the Lojas Renner Institute, Accor, and Foundever. After receiving their certificates, the graduates participated in a job fair with local companies, thus expanding their opportunities to access the job market.
We congratulate all the women who completed this stage and celebrate their effort, dedication, and determination to forge new paths!
