New York and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, September 8, 2021 – Stella Maris Scalabrinian Network (SMSN) and Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) welcome the timely adoption of the Action Plan for Fisheries and Human Rights by the Taiwan Fisheries Agency, on September 6th, 2021, which will benefit foreign crews employed in the Taiwan fishery fleet.

Ante la difícil situación humanitaria que está viviendo el Golfo del Urabá Antioqueño (Colombia) y la zona fronteriza de Darién, entre los países de Panamá y Colombia, producto del ingreso de un número importante de personas provenientes de varios países, quienes tienen la intención de atravesar el Tapón del Darién, aunado al desconocimiento sobre la cruda realidad en la selva, su entorno natural y la presencia de grupos irregulares con dominio en dicha zona, se nos está advirtiendo de un escenario de inminente aumento de riesgos de protección y potencial vulneración de derechos de esta población migrante en condición de tránsito por Colombia, Panamá y Centroamérica.
